Lives and works in São Paulo
Kimi Nii is ceramist and sculpture. In 1957, she moved to São Paulo. Graduated in Industrial Design from the Plastic Arts Faculty of the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (Faap), she began sculptural activities with high temperature ceramics and manual modeling in 1978. She develops Western artistic language in her work based on the procedures of Japanese ceramics. It explores solutions, experiences features and limits, transcends the inherited utilitarian aspects of design, creating organic forms from the allusion to everyday objects.
